How to make a Korean kimchi stew!!

Today, we are going to quickly learn how to make korean "kimchi stew" or "kimchi jjigae" in Korean. Please keep in mind that there could be some ingredients that may not be available in different countries. This stew is one of Korea's most traditional dishes. If you enjoy this dish, then go ahead, call yourself a Korean from now on!

Ingredients

  • kimchi 
  • pork meat (any part)
  • green onions
  • a little bit of mashed garlic
  • salt and a bit of soy sauce

How to make it

Of course every one has a different taste, but generally these are the basic ingredients for a kimchi stew. Ok, there are multiple ways to prepare this dish. However, I will show you the easiest and fastest way to make one.

  • First off, put your sliced meat into the pot.
  • Add just a tiny bit of salt and fill it up with water. The water should be filled to the point where it just nearly covers the last piece of meat. (Here is a very important tip. If you are ok with the garlic flavor and smell, leave it till the end. If you are not ok with standing the garlic smell, put them in along with the salt.)
  • Boil the water for like 10~15 minutes. If you notice that the water level has decreased, add in just a bit more.
  • After boiling the water with the meat for 10~15 minutes, you should be able to tell that the meat is cooked and some grease is floating on the water. You can place in your kimchi then.

  • Now that you put in your kimchi, go ahead and add some soy sauce, chili powder, and some green onions as spices.
  • If you want some additional toppings on your stew, then go ahead just add some~!

Voila! Now you are just ready to enjoy your korean home-made stew just like that!!

The food is just as delicious as the ingredients you place into it so make sure you use your favorite ingredients, not the most expensive ones!! 

Also keep in mind that this stew could be very spicy depending how spicy your chili powder and kimchi are so be aware!!

Here is the one I made at home. I put in some bean sprouts and a ramyeon noodle along with som mozarella cheese. Yummy!!!!
